PIMM PRAMOJ 7079
A2 Media Studies
draft.
I started off by selecting a picture of a car in the sunset which fits our aesthetic. I then added a PNG picture of polaroid pictures laid out, as polaroids are an important element in the branding of our film.
In a new layer, I added a PNG of a woman holding a polaroid camera, which would later be our protagonist. I also added our signature 'Azure' logo, as well as critics reviews and film festival nominations, to follow the connotations of a postcard.
process.
From having produced a draft, I created a custom document and selected the picture I wanted as the main image.
I cut out the outline of the actress and pasted the cutout onto the background we wanted.
I adjusted the colours and curves of the cutout to match the lighting in the background as accurately as possible.
After adding a PNG of our logo, I adjusted the contrast to make the text more bold. I also proceeded to add the signature polaroids.
I adjusted the colours and curves of the cutout even more, so that the skin color matches the orange tint of the sunset in the background.
Lastly, I added PNGs of film festival nominations and critics reviews, as these are some of the conventions of a short film postcard
draft.
What Went Well:
-
main character as main image
-
colours work well together
-
followed conventions of a poster / postcard
Even Better If:
-
Re-center Azure logo
-
make reviews more visible
-
play around with layout so everything fits
final poster.
From the feedback, we re-centered the Azure logo, as well as re locating the festival nominations so that they are seen clearly on the poster. In the draft, the reviews were placed on top of the arm, which made it hard to read. Hence, we moved it to where it could be seen easily. In addition, we added our own pictures for the background and the polaroids.
